Madol Duwa

An island surrounded by mangroves on the Koggala Lagoon which inspired arguably Sri Lanka best ever folk writer. Madol Duwa is the title of a movie which was first screened in 1976 which told the story of a young boy and how he faced the travails of his childhood escaping to this island with his best friend. The movie is based on the book of the same title by Martin Wickremasinghe a native of Koggala who was inspired by its natural beauty and charm.
