Stilt Fishing

The coastal belt of this area is famous for stilt fishing: anglers sitting on a wedge of wood fixed onto pole struck into the sea-bed of the beach. Strings of anglers thus precariously seated could only be seen in the south western and southern coasts of Sri Lanka: a unique tradition of fishing in Sri Lanka
